2023 CULINARY PROGRAM UPDATE

-In accordance with the CCGs RW-30 100 day plan CG-1113 was leading from the front when pertaining to Culinary Specialist E-7 and E-8 “Billet Banding.”   

-Spearheaded the effort for CS “Lateral Entry Program” to help with recruiting and retention efforts. 

-Conducted several CS recruiting efforts partnering with Coast Guard Recruiting Command (CGRC) at Pro-Start Culinary Convention in Washington D.C.  and the nation’s largest student Skills USA convention in Atlanta, GA.

-Led and supported the USCGs 75th Anniversary of Aviation Culinary Symposium and recruiting effort with a massive BBQ cookout for over 2,000 military and civilians at Base E-City, NC. 

-Fought hard to regain the lost FSAT Billets that DCMS swiped and placed into the “Billet Locker” going to be used for other initiatives and created the Culinary Field Support Branch under the Subsistence Product Line at HSWL-SC and adding one additional CSCS billet to our limited staff at CG FINCEN in Chesapeake, VA. 

-Gave numerous briefs to senior leadership on the Health of the CS rating leading to a detailed Decision Memo on Temporary Dining Facility Closures to shrink the CS footprint and support afloat operations. 

-Pressured leadership and CG-6 to prioritize “GALLEY” to develop a new financial management system to replace the ancient excel workbook. 

-Convinced leadership to approve the second Culinary Support Activity in Alameda, CA and convert and contracted dining facility to an active duty dining facility to not only support the Base’s feeding mission but provide critical CS TDY support to PACAREAs fleet. 

-Championed and supported the Coast Guard Culinary Team to win the American Culinary Federation Military Culinary Team of the Year for the third year in a row.
