Message from the RFMC on CS Workforce Alignment

Culinary Specialists,

Good evening. Please review the Commandant/MCPOCG’s email sent to you today. Also, please go to AY24 Force Alignment Initiative Information Hub (SHAREPOINT)to update yourself and your CS team on the way forward during this Workforce Alignment. The last few years have been tough on the CS Rating. We are short 150 CS3s and the impact on our rating has been nothing short of a crisis. The constant TDY requests on land and the shorthanded CS teams underway have taken a toll on our ratings retention, our families, and our souls. We need this change. We appreciate this change. We are grateful for this change. A reduction in responsibilities is imperative to alleviate the workload caused by the CS shortage. We made a plea for assistance, and our voices were heard.

–              Culinary Support Branch (CSB): The newly created CSB will provide remote administrative and technical assistance to the Coast Guard’s Culinary Specialists (CS) and their Commands in the complex operations of Coast Guard Dining Facilities (CGDF). CSB will be available for technical assistance, systematic oversight, and provide units with tools for continuous improvement by providing ongoing support and mentorship.
